CLAIM AMENDMENTS :

1. (original) An idler guide unit for a crawler type traveling apparatus,
comprising a tapering block used to cany out a clearance regulating operation.

2. (currently amended) The idler guide unit according to Claim claim 1,
wherein a position regulator for the tapering block is provided.

3. (new) A crawler type traveling apparatus, which comprises a track
frame, an idler arranged at a front end of the track frame, a sprocket arranged
at a rear end of the track frame, and a crawler winding around the idler and
sprocket, and

the idler being secured to the track frame by an idler guide unit, the idler
guide unit including upper and lower guides, and means for maintaining a
clearance between the upper and lower guides, the means including a tapered
block with a decreasing height arranged between the upper and lower guides.

4. (new) The idler guide unit according to claim 3, further including a
position regulator for adjusting the height of the tapered block relative to the
upper and lower guides.

5. (new) The idler guide unit according to claim 5, wherein the
position regulator includes a grease cylinder.

6. (new) The idler guide unit according to claim 3, further including
means for regulating a width clearance between the idler and the idler guide
unit by use of shims of varying thicknesses.
